Students flock to Chick N’ Treats for bubble tea

by

A new trend to the bubble-teaParkland/Coral Springs area is rapidly increasing in popularity: bubble tea. Bubble tea, also known as pearl milk tea, boba milk tea, boba juice or boba, is a Thai tea-based drink invented in the 1980s. Most bubble tea recipes contain a tea base mixed with fruit or milk, to which chewy tapioca balls or fruit jellies are often added. Ice-blended versions are usually mixed with fruit or syrup, resulting in a slushy consistency.

Chick N’ Treats is located on 10371 W. Sample Road in Coral Springs. This is not an average Asian restaurant. They have a complete lunch and dinner menu, but also a menu featuring bubble tea with a variety of different combinations and flavors.

“I never thought the idea of bubble tea sounded appetizing until one of my friends brought me to try it, and I immediately knew I was obsessed,” sophomore Olivia Prochilo said. “The tapioca balls freaked me out at first; they were so mushy and weird and got stuck in my teeth. My friend just told me to give it a chance, and I turned out loving it and ended up wanting to go to Chick N’ Treats everyday.”

For fruit-lovers, the restaurant has strawberry, mango, watermelon and many other fruit flavors. Unfortunately, they cannot give samples out because each drink is made to order to suite customer preferences.

“Sometimes I wish I could try all the flavors to see what I like the most, so that’s the only downside to the restaurant,” sophomore Drew Schwartz said.

The employees are always helpful to attend to anyone’s needs. If someone is confused concerning what they want to order they are very attentive and helpful.

“I absolutely love going to Chick N’ Treats,” senior Kyle Wills said. “The kind employees make it easy to order what I like, and it is always an enjoyable atmosphere.”

The texture of the squishy tapioca and the sweet cold tea is a mixture like no other and Chick N’ Treats is definitely a good place to try.
