(Brief) Women’s JV soccer team defeats Western High School

On Tuesday, Nov. 7,  the women’s junior varsity soccer team took on the Wildcats from Western High School at 5:00 p.m. on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School field. For their first game of the season, the Lady Eagles defeated the Wildcats with a score of 8-0.

Mia Newberg (3) brought in four goals for the team with assists from Katelyn Gomez (24), Emily Burke (16) and Francesca Lozano (9). Molly Marks (18) and Raquel Alvarado (7) each obtained one goal. Megan Hall (22) scored a goal by bouncing the ball off of her head.  

“This was an amazing start to our season,” team captain Katelyn Gomez (24) said. “We came out with a lot of intensity and we are looking forward to the rest of our season going this well.”

The team has their next game on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10:00 a.m. on the home field against McArthur High School.
