[Brief] Women’s varsity basketball wins in their first away game after winter break

With a score of 50-19, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Eagles defeated the Monarch High School Knights at their away game that took place on Wednesday, Jan. 17. MSD had a strong start in the first two quarters with 17 points in the first quarter and 22 points in the second.

All the players contributed points in order for them to win the game. The top scorers were Abbey Hsu (35), Taylor Thompson (2), Nathalia Balderrama (13) and Asa Dykes (23).

“This game was successful because each of the ladies contributed,” Balderrama said. “We shared the ball very well, helping us make passes in order to shoot.”

The next game will be a home game on Friday, Jan. 19 at 6 p.m against St. Thomas Aquinas.
