After a successful fundraiser on Sept. 22, 2023, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s WMSD-TV Productions chose to partner with Kona Ice again on March 5 to raise money for new film equipment and student television competitions. The food truck offered over 35 snow cone flavors to students in the senior parking lot after school–their most popular including Blue Raspberry, Tigers Blood, Groovy Grape and Island Rush.
Kona Ice provided different snow cone sizing options for students to select from, such as the $4.00 Klassic, $5.00 King, $6.00 Kowabunga and a color changing cup at $7.00. Refills, regardless of cone size, were offered at $4.00.
WMSD-TV treasurer Matthew Kaufman wanted to partner with Kona Ice because of the previous profits the snow cones brought the club. He believes that students can savor the shaved ice and relax, as the dessert is offered at reasonable prices.
“It’s an efficient and cheap fundraiser that kids are going to enjoy without breaking the bank and TV Club can profit on,” Kaufman said.
With the proceeds, TV Club will purchase camera batteries and pay off their competition submission fees. The club thanks all who demonstrated their support by purchasing a snow cone.
