Working out is a great escape from the monotony of a school or work day. Not only are you improving your physique and confidence, but going to the gym can bring a healthy avenue to release anger and stress and turn it into serenity. You plug in your headphones, put on your best playlist and get to work. However, what music can get you in the best workout mood and help you reach peak motivation?

1) “CREED: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”

The songs on this soundtrack of the first Creed movie, orchestrated by Ludwig Goransson, are almost all incredibly motivating tracks that build toward a climatic final fight.

Continuing the tradition of the Rocky series’ musical scores, each track encompasses the feeling of being a fighter and brings out the best of you while completing a set or running on the treadmill. Songs like “Lord Knows/ Fighting Stronger,” “Last Breath” and “If I Fight, You Fight” provide just the right mood to get moving.

2) “Back in Black” by AC/DC

As one of the most popular rock bands of all time, almost any listener can recognize this rock and roll beat. The heavy guitar solos and piercingly loud lyrics are engaging from start to finish, offering as much energy as humanly possible. A great listen to get hyped up while getting reps in.

3) “SHUT UP” by DaBaby

While there isn’t much substance or meaning in the lyrics, there is nothing like a great beat and rhythm to get started. While the flute melody sounds similar to several other Dababy songs, “SHUT UP” has a special sense of swagger and passion that is perfect inspiration for a good workout.

4)  “A Milli” by Lil Wayne

An unforgettable song, an incredible beat, absolutely ridiculous lyrics: just so much fun to listen to. Perfect “in your face” type of melody that makes someone feel 10 times stronger when listening. Lil Wayne gives so much energy that it flows into the listener and gives them a boost  in their workouts.

5) “Sunday Best” by Surfaces

As infectious and catchy of a song as you could ever find. Perfect to listen to and drown out any noise, upbeat and joyful throughout. Most gyms already have this song playing on their loudspeakers for good reason.

6) “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath

Similar to “Back in Black,” this is an unforgettable Rock and Roll classic which can only be described as awesome. There is nothing like when the guitar begins to drown out the lyrics and you feel so powerful that no dumbbell weighs too much for you to lift. Unmatched energy, great song to inspire you to work harder during a workout.

Honourable mentions: “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, “Get Dripped” by Lil Yachty and Playboi Carti, “Gonna Fly Now” Bill Conti, “Lose Yourself” by Eminem
