[Brief] Women’s cross country team competes at the BCAA championship

On Oct. 12, the women’s cross country team had their fourth meet of the season at the Broward County Athletics Association (BCAA) Championship. The meet was held at Markham Park and started at 3:30 p.m.

During the championship, rain and wind fell upon the runners.

“There was lots of mud and puddles and on and off rain,” Captain Alyssa Fletcher said.

The team came in fifth overall. St.Thomas Aquinas High School came in first, followed by Cardinal Gibbons High School, Coral Springs High School, Hallandale High School and MSD respectively. There was a total of 28 teams competing.

As the season comes closer to an end, the meets are getting more important being one of the last meets with more competitive runners.

“It was a County Meet, so they are becoming more important now with more runners and we had new competition,” Fletcher said.

The next meet will be held on Oct. 24, at Tradewinds Park starting at 3:30 p.m.
