[Brief] Women’s cross country team competes in first meet at Markham Park

On Sept. 5, the women’s cross country team competed in a meet at Markham Park.

The team competed against Cypress Bay High School, Flanagan Charles High School, Hallandale High School, Hollywood Hills High School, Monarch High School, Pembroke Pines Charter High School, Plantation High School, and South Plantation High School.

The meet went really well. The team had multiple people in the top seven for boys and girls. There were six girls who placed in the top seven from MSD. The weather was extremely hot.

“A lot of people started to get heat exhaustion. It also rained a bit for the boys race,” junior (17) Annagrace Meyers said.

The muddy course had two bridges and was a distance of three and one-tenth of a mile.

“We are really proud of how everyone did because despite the weather and the course, everyone ran really well,” Meyers said.

The next meet will take place on Sept. 11, at 4 p.m.
