[Brief] Women’s golf team defeats American Heritage (Plantation)

On Sept. 19, the women’s golf team took on the American Heritage (Plantation campus) Patriots at the Coral Springs Country Club. Par was 32 and the team played eight holes. Being a close game, the Eagle’s defeated the Patriots by only three points with the final score rounding the total score to 148-151.

The American Heritage Plantation team has been a very competitive team in the Florida High School Golf scene, earning second place at states last year to Archbishop McCarthy. However, American Heritage’s only returning member, Jillian Bourdage, scored the highest in the game.

“American Heritage is a hard team to play since their success at States last year,” Captain Amanda Okulanis said.

The top scorer for Douglas was Taylor Roberts with a score of 35; trailing closely behind was both Amanda Okulanis and Makayla Chau both with a score of 36. Allie Schuller ended with a solid score of 41and Grace Thornburg, although in last, still shot an impressive score of 48 to help push the Eagles over the top and take home another win.
