On Wednesday, Sept. 28, the junior varsity football team played their first game of the season against Coral Springs, beating the Colts by a score of 14-6.

The Eagles entered the game strong, garnering their first touchdown on the third play of the game with a 45-yard run by wide receiver and co-captain Christian Higgins (14).

“We are really excited for this new season,” Higgins said. “We’ve been working really hard, and with all of the new kids I think that we have a lot of potential.”

At the end of the third quarter, co-captain Brady Siren (10) threw a 44-yard touchdown to Davonney Voltaire (11) to clinch the win for the team.

Regardless of their win, the Eagles gave up 65 yards worth of penalties, raising some concern amongst the coaches.

“We need to brush up on our penalties,” said head coach George Leporte. “But once we do that, we definitely are going to have a great season.”

The team’s next game will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 PM.
