August 16 was a day that began with much jubilation for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team, but it ended in unsavory disappointment.
The Eagles had just put the finishing touches on the long summer off-season and were ready to head to Tampa to get back on the field. However, Mother Nature had other plans. With incoming storms, the team was forced to cancel their game and stay home.
“We worked really hard so it’s a shame,” defensive lineman Ari Fooksman (58), said.
There is clear disappointment amongst the MSD players, but they will have to re-focus for their week two matchup against the Grenadiers of Colonial High on August 23 at 7 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.
