On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas men’s cross country team had their meet at Tradewinds Park was cancelled due to Tropical Storm Eta raining out the course. Therefore, the team had only one meet the week of November 14, on Saturday. 

 At the meet, the Eagles went up against six other schools, including Coral Springs High School, their main rivals. Overall, MSD scored 41 points and placed second; West Broward beating them for first with 28 points. 

Rushane Miller of Dillard High School finished first with a time of 17:38, but his time would not count because he was disqualified from the meet due to not enough players competing. Juan Blanco of the Boca Warriors finished right behind him with a time only three hundredths of a second longer than Miller’s.

Cypress Bay High School was also disqualified because only one runner, Isaac Tang, showed up. He finished with a time of 25:14 and placed 29th out of all runners.

Captain Alexander Miller finished with the fastest time of all MSD runners helping lead them to a second place finish with a time of 18:37. Trailing behind him was Connor Greep who ended the race with a time of 19:45. 

Miller has been very impressed with runner Quinn McCluskey so far this season. 

“Someone that really impressed me is Quinn McCluskey. He’s been working very hard all season, and he’s slowly moving towards his goal of running under twenty minutes,”  Miller said.

MSD runners Anthony Cardinale and McClusky both finished in the top 15 while putting up their personal best time. Anthony finished with a blazing 19:28 time to put him in 8th place and Quinn followed with a 20:08 to place him 14th.

Miller  was very happy with how MSD performed despite falling short of West Broward.

 “I think our team ran very well! We got some great PRs, which is exciting because the regional qualifier is coming up soon!” Miller said. 

MSD’s next varsity meet took place on Monday, November 30, at Tradewinds Park. They competed  in the BCAA Tri-County Qualifier against six other rival schools including Coral Springs High and Coral Springs Charter.
