Drama department to host family friendly FALL-O-WEEN Event on Oct. 28
October 25, 2021
If you’re looking for a fun-filled night of frights and entertainment, don’t stray away from the Fall-o-Ween party at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Students and their families are welcomed to join the festivities on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Parking for the event will be in the senior lot located on Holmberg Road. Tickets are $6 per person to be paid at the time of entry. Everyone is encouraged to show their school “spirit” and come in a Halloween costume. Face masks are required for entry.
Candy is given out all around the school, making the event a sweeter treat for everyone.
“I’ve been overseeing the event for 15 years. We’ve been planning it since the beginning of the school year,” drama teacher Melody Herzfeld said. “It’s a required activity for my students to participate in, but the results are always great”.
The Drama Club is looking forward to putting on a wonderful Halloween event for families of MSD to enjoy. The purpose of the Fall-o-Ween event is to raise money for the Drama Department at MSD. Like ‘MSD’s Not So Scary Halloween’ event, which was held during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years, this year’s Halloween event will also include a show put on by the Drama Department. Additionally, an upcoming production and first play of the year, “Puffs”, will be performed on November 4th and 5th by Drama.
“I volunteered for this event since it was a given choice for Drama Club members. It sounded like a fun event to me and to also help with my service hours,” freshman Sophie Kusuma said. “We’ll be doing different themed games and crafts, including interactive character Q&A’s and giving out candy.”
After the COVID-19 pandemic caused schools around the country to go virtual in 2020, the Fall-o-Ween event couldn’t be put together. This year, however, the occasion will be better than ever. Activities such as musical chairs, limbo, races, and even a petting zoo with farm animals will all be included. The party will be Disney-themed, and as such will hold different stations with characters and references to the franchise.
