Culinary cookies, sold by Culinary, are back for the school year, and are only sold for two dollars at the culinary room during the week.
With the start of the 2023-2024 school year at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, students find themselves craving a quick snack after a long six hour day of school. Fortunately, the Culinary class is prepared to satisfy that hunger with their popular and delicious cookies.
The Culinary class at MSD sells cookies after school from 2:40 to around 3:00 p.m., or until the long line goes down. Many line up for the multiple available types of cookies. They are sold in front of the Culinary Room, which is 512. They are sold Wednesdays through Fridays, and have a multitude of flavors.
There are Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, M&M, S’mores and Lemon-Blueberry cookies, as well as the new flavor Salted Caramel, all for the students of MSD to enjoy.
“I think the cookies are really good. I think they’re really big. I think they need to bring back the Apple Crisp cookie cause that one was really good,” senior Katie Amos said
Culinary 4 usually bakes the cookies, and Culinary Officers come in and assist during their free time.
Baking the cookies, though sold for cheap, are extremely helpful for the Culinary program. The money Culinary makes contributes to the activities and trips they hold, like culinary labs or trips.
“Our lab fees used to be high, but the more cookies we sell and the more that we do, we are able to lower our lab fees every year to make it easier for those who can’t pay the expensive fee,” junior and culinary officer Carolina Biggers said.
In order to sell more cookies, Culinary has gotten more creative with their cookies to attract more students. Culinary, along with drama, has decided to sell Mean Girl cookies, which are pink dyed cookies.
With the variety of flavors available, and the new flavors underway, the cookies are a hit with the students, and will continue to be a hit for the whole school year.
