The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School women’s varsity soccer team had tied with the Park Vista Cobras on Thursday, Dec. 12. The game ended with a 2-2 score. The game took place from 4-5:40 p.m., at MSD’s Cumber Stadium.
With the Lady Eagles’ victory against Pembroke Pines Charter, the week before, they entered the game with great confidence.
In the first half of the game, the Lady Eagles had the ball around Park Vista’s net as both teams fought for possession. Senior Emma McGregor (25) scored the first goal of the game for the Eagles, bringing their score to 1-0 and taking the lead.
The ball continued to be passed around by both teams until sophomore Alison Ofstein (12) scored another goal for the Lady Eagles.
“I think I played pretty well,” Ofstein said. “I mean, I scored, so I would say I played pretty well.”
As the first half of the game ended, the Lady Eagles led with a score of 2-0. However, after both teams ran back onto the field after re-energizing, Park Vista handled the ball with intensity. Park Vista received multiple penalty shots, but missed all of them.
During the last minutes of the game, Park Vista scored two goals, ending the game in a 2-2 tie. This is the team’s fourth tie of the season.
“I’m not real happy with the way the game went,” Coach Laura Rountree said. “Seeing that we gave up two goals in the last five minutes for the tie was not a happy ending.”
After the game was over, the Lady Eagles gathered together for a game debrief to discuss the score, how everyone played and strategies for future games.
The game continued their streak of wins and ties, which they have maintained throughout this season. The team is 4-0-0.
