On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the men’s varsity soccer team conquered their first game of the season with a 6-0 win against Hallandale High School.
Daniel Medeiros (10) was selected as player of the game by coach Phil Lamarre, scoring three goals in the first half of the game. Cole Leonardi (11), Mason Hall (2) and Bruno Sperandio (6) each scored one goal, while goalie Courtney Keise saved one goal attempted by the enemy team.
“It feels great [to] start a new season,” player Lucas Magalhaes (12) said. “We need to keep our reputation. Everyone wants to take us down [because we’re] district champs from last year. It’s like we have a target on our backs, but it feels great to win our first game of the season 6-0.”
Returning as district champs from the 2016-2017 season, the team is currently 3-0 with an upcoming match against South Broward on Friday, Nov. 17 in their first away game of the season.
