On Feb. 21, the women’s varsity lacrosse team competed in their first game of the season at home. The game started at 6 p.m. and the weather was sunny and hot.
The team won the game with a score of 15-14 against Saint John Paul II Academy.
“I felt confident and strong. I had faith that we were going to win. We did not give up,” sophomore midfielder Lauren Figas (12) said. “We worked together very well. We came back and never let them get to us. It was a very intense game but we held together through it all.”
The team worked together and pulled through to win the game. Winning the first game of the season gave the Eagles a great start to the upcoming year. The team decided to retire jersey number 17 to honor the lives lost on Feb. 14. During the game the team and audience shared a moment of silence.
The next game will take place on Feb. 25 against Calvary Christian Academy.
