Despite having one of the toughest playoff schedules in the entire state, Marjory Stoneman Douglas’s own Eagles have advanced farther than any other baseball team in school history, showing time and time again on their historic run why they have earned the #1 ranking in the entire nation. Now, after defeating #22 ranked West Orange 3-2 in the Class 9A State Semifinals in Fort Myers, Douglas sits on the verge of bringing home the first ever state title to Parkland, and will be tasked with overcoming #35, Miami’s Columbus High School. Students, faculty, Parkland mayor Michael Udine, and Douglas alumni and current Chicago Cubs player Anthony Rizzo alike are all unsurprisingly ecstatic for the team, taking to Twitter to voice their support:
