Florida’s Future Educators of America, a four-year teaching course for high school students interested in pursuing education, created and distributed Boo Grams that were sold on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s E-store from Oct. 1-15. The Boo Grams were delivered to students during eighth period on Oct. 31.
Boo Grams, assembled in goodie bags, were filled with different candies and could be gifted to friends, family members and significant others. Each bag was sold for $1.
The Boo Grams were a fundraiser, intended to raise money for future FFEA field trips. The classes that comprise the FFEA program go to regionals and compete in categories related to public speaking, ethical dilemmas and more.
Boo Grams brought joy to students, allowing them to show appreciation for and feel appreciated by their loved ones.
“I didn’t really know that I was getting pulled out of class for a Boo Gram,” senior Adrianna Stedman said. “I was shocked at first, but in the end I’m really excited that I was given one. I’m really appreciative of my friend who decided to buy one for me.”
Putting together and delivering the Boo Grams delighted many FFEA members, as it allowed them to contribute to their class fundraiser while making their peers happy.
“Preparing these Boo Grams took time and effort, but it was worth it to see [the recipients] reactions,” junior Tabitha Memoli said. “Everyone put a lot of effort into putting the Boo Grams together.”
Boo Grams not only helped fund FFEA’s future competitions but also pleased their recipients and the students who handmade them. The gesture created a sense of unity throughout MSD, bringing everyone closer together amidst the holiday season.
