Ava Steil, Editor-in-Chief

Ava Steil is a senior at MSD and the Editor-in-Chief of the Eagle Eye. She will be attending the University of Central Florida in the summer, majoring in journalism. Ava enjoys reading, going on drives with her friends and trying different coffee shops. In the future, Ava hopes to work as a writer for a news publication.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School entered a lockdown after reports of a shooting and kidnapping in the Coral Springs area. The reports were later found to be false after being investigated by the Broward Sheriff's Office and Coral Springs Police Department. MSD was placed in a code yellow as a precaution to protect students and staff.

Installed in August 2019, a new banner depicting a calming forest scene surrounds the 1200 building. Following the Feb. 14, 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 students and staff members and injured another 17, the building has been designated a crime scene and is in the custody of the state attorney's office. The building is still being reported as usable classroom space on the Florida Inventory of School Houses report for MSD.
