With the release of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” approaching quickly, Sony released the highly-anticipated official trailer on Tuesday, Nov. 16. With the short amount of time since the trailer’s release, it’s already racked up an immense amount of views.

The official trailer was released around two months after the teaser trailer was revealed in August. While the teaser trailer provided only basic information about the plot of the upcoming movie, the recent official trailer displays a fresh perspective on what to expect in the movie.

As Tom Holland returns to the MCU as Spider-Man with his third solo movie, we get to see a new chapter within Peter Parker’s life. As previously shown in the teaser trailer, we can see that the conflict in the movie is about Parker’s desire for people to forget he is Spider-Man, which is foreshadowed in the prior Spider-Man. This causes a lot of issues for Peter, as seen in the trailer.

The new trailer officially confirmed the return of several supervillains from the former Spider-Man movies. Multiple members of the Sinister Six were spotted throughout the trailer, showing that there will be more than one antagonist facing off with Holland’s Spider-Man.

“Watching the trailer and seeing all the past Spider-Man villains truly surprised me,” freshmen Dylan Greenstein said. “I can’t wait to see what happens when the movie is finally released.”

While the return of former Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Macguire was not confirmed within the trailer, it is still highly likely that they will be in the movie. Through leaks and speculation, along with the plot revolving around the multiversal intersection of previous Spider-Man movies, it will be no surprise if they make an appearance in the film.

The amount of parallels within the trailer has gained a lot of speculation, focusing on how much effort Sony put into connecting the Spider-Man universes. In one scene of the trailer, MJ, played by Zendaya, is seen falling in a similar way that Gwen Stacy did when she died in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” This has left fans speculating the future fate of Peter’s girlfriend MJ.

On Friday, Dec. 17, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will officially be released worldwide in theatres. The movie is still highly predicted to be one of the most successful, top-earning movies in 2021.
