On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Eagle Regiment performed its show “Beyond” at the 13th annual Park Vista High School Striking Cobra Invitational.
The Eagle Regiment took the field at nine p.m. It had been raining on and off throughout the competition. However, with three minutes left in their performance, it began to pour.
“As I was conducting, I got a little disappointed as it started to rain,” junior drum major Angelina Brier said.
Despite the rain, the Eagle Regiment still managed to reclaim its title as the Grand Champion with a score of 92.9 out of 100. The Eagle Regiment also won best music, best visual, best general effect and best percussion.
“As the rain and wind started to pick up and get even harder, the band only got more enthusiastic and energetic,” Brier said. “I can honestly say that I think that was our best visual performance yet.”
The band has improved by 12 points since its previous regional competition, the Flanagan High School Falcon Sound Invitational, on Oct. 6, where they scored an 80.9.
The Eagle Regiment will attend their final competition, Florida Marching Band Competition (FMBC) states, on Nov. 17, where they hope to be declared Grand Champions for the second consecutive year.
