“Ring Chase,” a motivating hip-hop and rap song produced by Marjory Stoneman Douglas seniors Demetri Fortaleza, Gordon Jupiter and Joey Bullion, was made to encourage the baseball team while moving into states.
“I hope that this song will actually help us win states and put our school on the map,” senior Demetri Fortaleza said. “No one really gives our school credit and we want to put our school out there. We have been going to all the baseball games this year and just wanted to give them some hype going into states, something Douglas has never done before.”
Despite being directed towards those on the Douglas team, the song has gained popularity among students and teachers from other local schools. The song was released on Soundcloud on May 17, and has since drawn in over five thousand listeners.
“Ring Chase” has especially received attention from members of the baseball team, who greatly appreciate the support offered by the song. As the baseball team participates in states, which they departed for on May 18, the song will serve as a motivating force to advance the team to victory.
“The song means a lot to us as a team,” pitcher Brandon Kaminer said. “It has really brought everyone close together as a family, and the students have been absolutely amazing supporting us through this. Everyone on the team loves it.”
The song has also attracted more attention to the current status of the baseball team, increasing student enthusiasm regarding the team’s recent success and efforts while playing at states.
“I wasn’t up to date on what the baseball team was doing until I heard the song and realized that they were going to states,” senior Paige McCooty said. “I really hope they do well and I’ll definitely be following the scores.”
As the song continues to gain momentum and popularity on social media, the boys plan on dropping more music.
“We are on track to release another song in the next two weeks if our school wins states,” Fortaleza explained.
Growing in recognition, “Ring Chase” continues to propel the Douglas baseball team to success at states.
