On Tuesday, May 19, Krispy Kreme gavet a box of one dozen donuts to every 2020 graduate who brought identification. Every senior who showed up to their local Krispy Kreme location wearing a cap and gown, 2020 apparel, class ring or student ID received a free box of donuts.
“The Class of 2020 deserves the sweetest treat. Celebrate them with our 2020 Graduate Dozen for purchase,” Krispy Kreme announced in a tweet on Monday, May 18.
News of the “2020 Graduate Dozen” promotion spread quickly over social media as seniors posted photos of their decorated donut boxes. Each box contained an assortment of flavors, including Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled, Strawberry Iced Kreme Filled, Cake Batter Filled, Yellow Iced Original Glazed, Chocolate Iced Sprinkles and Strawberry Iced Sprinkles.
“All day on Tuesday, people were posting Snapchats and Instagram stories of themselves holding a Krispy Kreme donut box that was decorated with 2020 designs,” Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior Leah Golberg said.
Seniors waited in lines for as long as one to two hours to receive a box. Due to the traffic and overwhelming response, Krispy Kreme ran out of the special flavors included in their “Graduate Dozen” bundle. As a result, original glazed donuts were substituted in their place.
“I went later in the day so by the time I got there, they were out of the decorated donuts,” J.P. Taravella senior Steven Munsie said. “I didn’t mind receiving glazed ones and I appreciate Krispy Kreme’s effort to add more joy into the Class of 2020’s senior year.”
Overall, many seniors were appreciative of Krispy Kreme’s “Graduate Dozen” promotion. Graduating seniors acknowledge the business’ effort in supporting the Class of 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.
“It was super sweet of them to do that for everyone,” MSD senior Kayli Hendry said.
Krispy Kreme was greeted with enthusiasm and excitement over the promotion on May 19. Many seniors are requesting they hold another free “Graduate Dozen” day in the near future.
