[Review] ‘Home Sweet Home Alone’ should be on your holiday watch list
November 22, 2021
“Home Sweet Home Alone” was released on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 on the streaming service Disney Plus. This movie is the perfect holiday movie for families to enjoy together.
The movie follows Max Macer, played by Archie Yates, who needed to use the restroom, but could not hold it until he got home. His mother Carol, played by Aisling Bea, took him to an open house down the street. After Max uses the restroom he meets Jeff McKenzie, played by Rob Delaney, who was moving out a box of dolls. Max’s mom informed Jeff that one of the dolls was worth around 5,000 dollars.
After the bathroom stop, Max and his mom left back to their family members who were staying with them for the holidays. Max kept getting ignored and yelled at by his family so he decided to go into the car in the garage and watch a movie.
Shift back to Jeff, who is settling in the loft with his wife Pam and decides to check the price of the doll. He soon discovers it’s worth 200,000 dollars and there were only ten of them ever made. Ecstatic, he went to get the doll, only to discover it’s missing.
Thinking Max stole it, Jeff decides to show up at the Macer house the next morning. However, he is informed that Max and his mom are gone on a flight to Japan. Little does Jeff know, Max was accidentally left behind in the garage.
As Jeff looks through the window he notices the jacket that Max was wearing with a full pocket. Thinking the doll has to be stuffed in it, Jeff plans to break into the house and steal his doll back later when the neighbors aren’t watching. However, Jeff and Pam are caught with an unexpected surprise that night when they realize they aren’t the only ones in the house, and that the lady speaks German.
This movie has a lot of action and suspense that is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Viewers are able to watch Max use creativity to stop the intruders.
Based on the iconic “Home Alone,” is a Christmas movie about a little boy named Kevin who was accidentally left home by his family, similar to Max, when they went to Paris. “Home Sweet Home Alone” was definitely not as good as the incomparable “Home Alone,” as the viewers never got an inside look at the family.
This movie has had some bad reviews saying that creators should stick to the original “Home Alone” movies, others saying that this movie was not the best and that the family sucks, but there are also reviews that say “Home Sweet Home Alone” is a great movie and an amazing addition to the “Home Alone” franchise.
“Home Sweet Home Alone” is a great movie and I loved how the actors put effort into making the viewers try to laugh with all of the corny jokes and actions that were made.
Overall “Home Sweet Home Alone” has the perfect amount of chaos and holiday spirit to enjoy. I would recommend this movie to be on your holiday watch list this season.
