September 17, 2016
The Women’s Golf team, coming off of a strong 2015-2016 season, took on the St. Thomas Raiders on Sept. 14. The final score was 160 to 200, and the Eagles took home another win, totaling the record to 6-0-1.
“The season has been going really well,” Captain Amanda Okulanis said. “Overall, the team has been working really hard at practice to the point we’re all comfortable going into matches.”
Par was 36 and they played nine holes at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Individual scores ranged from 37 to 57, which made it more than possible for the Eagles to overpower the Raiders, whose lowest score was 46. The two top scores for Douglas were scored by Amanda Okulanis and Taylor Roberts, who both scored 37. Following closely behind with a score of 41 was Makayla Chau and Natalie Toops followed with a score of 45 . Grace Tromberg (final score of 54) and Hayley Seigel (score of 57) rounded the Eagles out. The team, coached by Gus Turner, has undergone a new addition to the coaching staff, Devin Schaller, a first year teacher at MSD, assistant coach of the Girl’s Flag Football team and U.S history teacher.
The Women’s Golf team’s next game is on Monday Sept. 19 against American Heritage (Plantation campus) at EagleTrace at 2pm.
