[Brief] MSD Speech and Debate Team wins two awards at State Championships

On Sat. and Sun., March 8 and 9 the MSD Speech and Debate team competed in the Florida Forensics League Varsity State Championship.

Nine entries qualified in four events for this state tournament at the Regional State Qualifier Tournament for Region 6, Broward County, on Feb 5 at Western High School.

Out of such, two students won state championships; senior Armaan Rajwany for competing in Humorous Interpretation and junior Noldine Belizaire for competing in Program Oral Interpretation.

“I am very proud of my students,” debate teacher Jacob Abraham said.

The Public Forum Debate team of senior Thomas Heffner and junior Gabby Kessman and World Schools Debate entries, senior Alyssa Robinson, senior Jayden Adjodha, senior Tyler Opodyke, junior Mina Dinh, and freshman Aesha Bhavsar, had winning records but did not advanced.

Currently, Rajwany and Belizaire qualified to Nationals at a previous tournament and will be attending in June.
