Cozy Drop Café launched their first location on Mon., April 13, in Parkland. Cozy Drop offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that serves coffee, pastries and sandwiches by day and tapas and wine at night.
Their current hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but they plan on extending their hours until 8 p.m. as business grows.
This café was created by locals Carlos Talero, Samantha Tobar, Ulisses Souza, Alvaro Tobar and Roberto Velez.
The hot vanilla latte was the perfect mix of sweet and bitter. The milk was not too overpowering and the coffee flavor remained strong.
The beef empanada was warm and savory, filled with ground beef and sealed shut with bread. It was a delicious snack.
The chocolate chip cookie, which was warm and not overly gooey, had a balanced ratio of chocolate chips-to-dough and was a sweet treat.
Other drinks they have include immunity shots, green juice, matcha, chai, fruit juices and hot chocolate. They also sell a variety of different coffees, such as cappuccinos, lattes, americanos, macciatos, cortados and mocha.
“I had their iced caramel latte,” junior Kyle Pan said. “I like it a lot but I wish they mixed the caramel better.”
Cozy Drop also offers specialty crafted drinks. For example, the cappuccino bonbon is an espresso prepared with steamed milk and sweetened with condensed milk.
Another specialty drink is the strawberry matcha latte, made with ceremonial-grade matcha and homemade strawberry purée.
“I tried their matcha and I really liked how it wasn’t too bitter. The strawberry flavor had the perfect amount of sweetness,” sophomore Ana Campos said.
The café replaced Queens Tea House and quickly attracted many new customers. Their Instagram has grown, with over 800 followers in just under two weeks since opening.
