Crumbl Cookie released new menu items for Easter from March 29 to April 4. These items included the Dubai Nest Dirt Cake Cup, Carrot Cake, Strawberries ‘n’ Cream Cookie and Spring M&M’s cookie, along with a few of their classic cookies: Milk Chocolate Chip and Pink Sugar.
The Dubai Nest Dirt Cake Cup stands out from Crumbl’s usual cookie catalog considering it is a cake and not a cookie. This cake also incorporates Dubai chocolate, which is an attention grabber for most considering that Dubai chocolate has been quite trendy as of late.
The “Nest Dirt Cake” part of the name comes into play in the way Crumbl decorated and presented the cake. There are three chocolate eggs — one yellow, one pink and one blue — placed on the center of the cake, sitting on top of what looks like a nest but consists of a mix of pistachio creme and crispy kataifi. These crunchy toppings contrast the soft chocolate cake and the light chocolate mousse underneath.
Throughout the cake, there are two gummy worms that seem to represent worms squirming around in the dirt.
Overall, this cake is a good experience both flavor and presentation-wise. The chocolate mousse is not so airy that it does not go well with the cake and the decoration is nice. Still, Crumbl could have added more pistachio and kataifi to the nest because it felt like there was not an equal balance between the two and the chocolate.
Those who do not typically like intense chocolate desserts would not enjoy this cake seeing as it has a strong chocolate flavor throughout.
The Carrot Cake dessert from Crumbl’s recent menu catches the eye, with the way it is presented making it stand out among their traditional cookie options. Unlike typical homemade carrot cake, this version comes in “cup” form, allowing for a better appreciation of the layers and the cake’s moist texture.
What stands out most is the cream cheese frosting, which Crumbl typically prepares to be quite thick, sweet and with a tangy kick. This frosting serves as the perfect counterpoint to the cake itself, which is characterized as soft, lightly spiced and containing small bits of carrot that provide the classic moisture expected of a good carrot cake. The cake itself strikes a very pleasant balance between cinnamon and nutmeg without becoming overpowering.
As for the decoration, the top of the “cup” typically features a swirl of frosting accompanied by fine carrot shavings or crumbs from the cake itself, simulating the look of a traditional carrot cake — albeit in a miniature version. This presentation, while simple, makes the dessert look clean, elegant and appetizing.
The overall flavor profile is quite balanced. The cream cheese frosting does not overpower the cake and the cake itself is not overly sweet. However, one could argue that Crumbl might benefit from incorporating a bit more texture — such as chopped nuts or a more pronounced crumble — to add that crunchy element that many expect in a classic carrot cake.
The M&M Easter cookie from Crumbl’s Easter lineup is soft and chewy, with colorful pastel M&Ms that give the cookie a pop of color for the holiday. Each bite has a bit of chocolate, which adds a sweetness without being too overpowering.
The flavor is balanced, combining the cookie and M&M chocolates in a way that keeps each bite enjoyable. The texture is soft in the center but slightly crispy on the outside, creating a nice contrast. It pairs well with the other cookies, making this cookie perfect for someone who is looking for something simple and sweet.
The Cookies and Cream cookie had a nice texture to it, with a nice chocolatey taste. It was not too dry or too soggy and did not taste bitter or overly sweet. However, the frosting was a little too sweet for the already sweet cookie underneath.
Instead of overdoing the frosting on top, they should have used something else like butter cream, which is a little less sweet. Even cream cheese frosting might have worked. It also could have been decorated with more of an Easter theme, such as green icing or themed sprinkles.
The variety Crumbl had with their flavors made it easier to accommodate different taste palettes. Crumbl did a satisfactory job at capturing Easter with their spring-inspired flavors and with the tweaking of their desserts to fit the theme at hand.
