[Brief] Men’s cross country places first overall

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas men’s cross country team competed in their second meet of the season at Markham Park against Blanche Ely High School, Everglades High School, Miramar High School, Pembroke Pines Charter High School, J.P. Taravella High School, Western High School and West Broward High School. MSD placed first overall with a total of 32 points.

“The team needs to work on endurance,” captain Nick Boyer said. “But the teams we were up against were not nearly as strong.”

Senior River Valladares led the team in third place with a time of 19:13.0. In fourth place was junior Austin Freese with a time of 19.14.0 and in sixth place was sophomore Leo Scorpio with a time of 19.49.0.

The next meet will take place at Tradewinds Park on Oct. 3. The team will run against Coconut Creek high school, Coral Glades high school, Coral Springs Charter School, Coral Springs Charter Academy, Monarch High School, Coral Springs High School and J.P. Taravella High School. It will start at 4 p.m.
