[Brief] BCPS to launch new parent portal ‘Focus’

Broward County Public Schools is launching a new parent information portal called “Focus” for the 2024-2025 school year. The portal is expected to enhance communication and involvement between BCPS parents and students.

The information system will replace Pinnacle and Virtual Counselor, which will no longer be in use. “Focus” combines all applications used by parents and students into one efficient system with essential school information such as attendance, announcements, transportation, scheduling, report cards and gradebook. The portal will be implemented across the district.

The district has been planning extensively for the implementation since November 2023. Every student will be automatically enrolled in “Focus” and accounts will also be created for teachers, staff, and parents. All staff will be provided with training and support as the district makes the transition.

The transition to a new information portal highlights the district’s progress in utilizing technology for educational improvement and building connections within its school communities. “Focus” is expected to benefit students and parents with its easy accessibility in the upcoming school year.
