Test prep is being offered for the English and Language Arts (ELA) Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), Biology End-of-Course Exam (EOC) and the Algebra 1 EOC. These Extended Learning Opportunities are designed to provide supplemental instruction in ELA, mathematics and science to students needing review and additional support to learn exam content. All students must have their permission form signed by a parent or guardian to participate.
Biology EOC prep will be offered Tuesdays in room 631 from 3-4 p.m., beginning March 24 and ending May 5. The reviews are taught by science teacher Caitlin Hanely. It aims to review Biology content aligned with grade-level standards.
The ELA FAST prep is offered Wednesdays 2:50-3:50 p.m. in room 934, ending April 29. It aims to teach students reading skills to help improve their scores. They will be overseen by ELA teachers Nadeen Ashman and Darren Levine and Reading Coach Gabriella Prochilo. Students must pass the Grade 10 FAST ELA in the third progress monitoring window (PM3) to graduate.
Algebra 1 EOC prep will be offered Tuesdays from 2:45- 3:45 p.m. in room 934. It will be overseen by math teacher Gil Tomer. The program will begin on Feb. 24 and end on May 12. Students must pass the Algebra 1 EOC in order to receive a high school diploma.
The FAST PM3 will take place May 6. The EOCs will take place a week after — the Algebra 1 EOC is on May 13 and the Biology EOC is on May 14. These weekly classes serve to help students improve their test scores so they can meet their graduation requirements.
