[Brief] Men’s varsity cross country team places second in second meet

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the men’s varsity cross country team competed against seven other schools in the second BCAA at Markham Park. West Broward High School hosted the event.

The team placed second with a score of 32, ahead of Western, Ely, Miramar, Pines Charter, Taravella, and Everglades High Schools.

The team’s individual scores placed high, with four runners in the top ten. Captains Josh Charo and Austin Frese finished the race with times of 18:53 and 19:00 respectively. Juniors Leo Scopino and Jorge Zapata placed seventh and eighth with times of 19:26 and 19:38 respectively.

“It was so hot, yet with our optimism we pushed through and did the best we can,” junior William Winland said.

The men’s varsity cross country team will have their next BCAA meet hosted by Coral Springs High School on Monday, Sept.17 at Tradewinds Park.
