[Brief] Men’s junior varsity baseball team wins doubleheader against Cardinal Gibbons High School

On April 20, the men’s junior varsity baseball team went up against the Cardinal Gibbons High School Chiefs in a doubleheader.

The final score of the first game was 6-2. The Eagles took an early lead and they were able to hold that lead for the rest of the game. The Eagles offense remained hot all game.

“We hit a couple of home runs which helped us get the momentum and catch fire,” coach Max Boling said.

The Eagles hit two home runs this game coming from outfielder Chris Arroyo (5) and pitcher Derek Rodriguez (12). The starting pitcher for the Eagles was Rodriguez, who is a right-handed freshman. The Eagles got a boost from many players on the offense having clutch hits.

“Derek and I both hit home runs and this gave us an early lead and confidence for our team to go out and perform,” Arroyo said.

The final score of the second game was 8-2, the Eagles were winning the majority of the game. The Eagles hit two more home runs this game coming from catcher Chris Mackenna (24) and pitcher Brandon White (22).

“Our bats came out hot this game scoring 8 runs and holding our lead on the defensive side,” Mackenna said.

The starting pitcher for the Eagles in the second game was Connor Hagen (15), who is a right handed sophomore. The Eagles stranded together hits the whole game to get the win.

On April 24, the team will play an away game against St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
