The annual senior class Powderpuff game scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Cumber Stadium was cut early due to concerning weather conditions. The cancellation of one of the most anticipated games of the year disappointed various students and parents.
“Powderpuff being canceled was definitely a let down, since we were all very excited to watch the game,” junior Alexandria Sundquist said.
The Powderpuff game is a flag football game with reversed gender roles; rather than having female cheerleaders cheering for the male players, girls dominate the field while the boys cheer them on wearing cheerleader uniforms. The Powderpuff game is a part of Homecoming Spirit Week, which took place from Sept. 22-26.
Homecoming Spirit Week fosters excitement among students and is one of the school’s most memorable events leading up to Homecoming.
“I was really looking forward to playing in the Powder Puff game to make high school memories, so when it got canceled before we even started I was disappointed,” junior Reign Mack said.
A theme, thought up by the Student Government Association, was assigned to each day for students to dress up in accordance with. On Wed., students were encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey in alignment with the Powerpuff game later that evening.
Mon. was decades dress-up day. Thurs. was pajama day and Fri. was class colors day.
Powderpuff was not rescheduled and hopefully will be run again next year.
