From Sept. 22-26, students participated in the annual Homecoming Spirit Week, along with a pep rally on Fri. Students could also participate in various lunch activities, hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA). These activities included musical chairs and four square.
“I think people should participate in spirit weeks because you should show school spirit,” junior Keagan Harrypersad said.
This year’s Homecoming theme was “MSD Grand Prix.” All spirit days were associated with the theme. On Mon., students dressed up in clothing from different decades for “Driving Through the Decades.”
“I did a Y2K look,” junior Lucy Woo said. “I had a bandana and low rise jeans.”
On Wed., students represented their favorite sports teams by wearing jerseys and other sports merchandise. Both college and national teams were represented.
The Powderpuff game, which involves male students acting as cheerleaders and female students playing football, was supposed to be hosted after school on Wed., but was cancelled.
Thurs. was “Pit Stop Pajama Day,” with students wearing pajamas to school. A petting zoo was supposed to be held in the courtyard after school, but was also cancelled due to weather.
Fri. was the “Grand Prix Finals,” when students dressed up in their respective class colors. Freshmen wore green, sophomores wore blue, juniors wore red and seniors wore black.
“My favorite day was color wars because you can show off what grades you’re in,” Harrypersad said. “I feel like that’s the one everyone should do.”
The Homecoming pep rally was also on Friday, with performances from the cheer team, Legends of Destiny Step Team and Eagle Regiment band and color guard.
Students from all grades enjoyed participating in the different spirit days leading up to the Homecoming dance on Sat., Sept. 27.
