[Brief] Men’s cross country places third overall

On Thursday, Oct.12, the men’s cross country team competed in the Broward County Athletics Association (BCAA) championship at Markham park. It started at 3:30 p.m. and the MSD team placed third overall out of 28 teams.

While practicing six times a week there is still room for improvement. The team put their best foot forward but they were racing against some of the best teams.

“To improve we just need to keep running harder workouts and bring down our second and third mile times,” Captain Nick Boyer said. “But one of the things that sets us apart from other schools is that our top five runners are all really close in times so we always run together as a pack.”

When the players run together they can share the work so one person is not pacing the whole time. This helps boost the players confidence when they are struggling or if they need a little encouragement to get through the race.

The next meet will be districts which will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek.
