[Brief] Women’s varsity cross country team competes in second meet

On Sept. 11, the MSD women’s cross country team competed in a meet that took place at Markham Park.

The team competed against West Broward, Blanche Ely, Everglades, Miramar, Pembroke Pines Charter, J.P. Taravella, and Western High Schools.

The weather was not too hot due to cloud cover, which in turn helped the runners do better and complete the course with better times.

“Many runners improved their time at this course from the previous meet that was held at the same place,” captain Alyssa Fletcher said. “There was less heat which enabled us to run faster.”

The team did really well for getting better times then the previous meet, which was held on the same course.

“It was a great improvement from the last meet,” junior Monique Miguel said. “The course was alright, it’s definitely no one’s favorite but not the worst.”

The next meet will take place on Sept. 17 at Tradewinds Park.
