[Brief] Women’s varsity cross country team places first in meet

On Sept. 17, the women’s cross country team competed in a meet held at Tradewinds Park, in Coconut Creek. The meet started at 4 p.m.

The team competed against Coral Springs High School, Coconut Creek High School, Coral Glades High School, Coral Springs Charter, Coral Springs Christian Academy, Monarch High School and J.P. Taravella High School.

Both the women’s and men’s teams came in first place at this meet. Captain Alyssa Fletcher took first place for the women’s team and five others placed in the top six for the women’s team.

The weather was sunny and hot and the course included thick grass, but overall the course was good for the runners.

“The team did very well,” captain Alyssa Fletcher said. “Everyone was pumped up for this race and gave it their all on the course.”

The team’s next meet will take place on Sept. 22, at South County Park. The meet will start at 8 a.m.
