On April 6, the men’s junior varsity baseball team went up against Coral Glades High School in a double header.

The final score of the first game was 10-0. The Eagles took an early lead and they were able to hold that lead for the rest of the game. The Eagles offense remained hot all game. Coral Glades did not play well at all scoring zero runs and giving up 10.

“We started hot and stayed hot throughout the whole game and this gave us the ability to win the game,” coach Max Boling said.

The starting pitcher for the Eagles was Derek Rodriguez (12), who is a right-handed freshman. Rodriguez is looking forward to having a strong year so he can make a big impact on the varsity level next year. The Eagles got a boost from Jacob Mays (20) with his home run that got the team going.

“The whole team played well all game and everyone did their job and contributing to the win,” catcher Tyler Novik (8) said.

The final score of the second game was 3-2, the Eagles were losing majority of the game. Coral Glades was winning 2-0 going into the 7th inning, but the Eagles ended up walking the game off.

The starting pitcher for the Eagles in the second game was Connor Hagen (15), who is a right handed sophomore. Chris Arroyo (5) came in relief and threw really good for the Eagles and kept them in the game. The Eagles stranded together hits in the last inning and ended up scoring three runs to win.

“Our bats came out slow this game but then we had to get it done in the last inning for the win,” catcher Chris Mackenna (24) says.

On April 13, the team will play a home game against American Heritage School.
