Marjory Stoneman Douglas’ Politics Club hosted their first meeting in room 913 on Thu. Sept. 28. President Kevin Trejos and Vice President Elijah Abraham began the meeting with general information for potential members who were interested in joining this school year.

The meeting continued with an open, yet orderly, discussion about the potential danger of nuclear weaponry in North Korea. The conversation allowed to students to express possible solutions to amend this current international tension. Next, the debates shifted to discuss the newly proposed travel ban by the Trump administration.

“The turnout for this preliminary meeting is awe-inspiring; I look forward to an exciting year filled with passionate political discussion,” Abraham said.

The next meeting will take place on Thu. Oct. 12.
