[Brief] Men’s cross country team places in top three at fifth meet

On Oct. 3rd, the men’s cross country team competed in the BCAA #5 Meet at Heritage Park. The meet was hosted by South Plantation High School at 4 p.m.

The meet was very eventful, as four runners made the top 10, and seven runners beat their personal record.

Junior Leo Scopino placed first with a time of 18:14, and junior Jorge Zapata placed second with a time of 18:42.

“What motivated me during this meet was getting in the top 10 for which it would benefit my team and myself personally as a runner,” Zapata said.

Sophomore Alexander Miller placed third with a score of 19:00.

“The support at every meet is very reassuring, the team parents, the coaches and the athletes are all very caring and helpful,” Miller said.

The seven runners who beat their personal records included sophomores Sebastian Pernas, Cameron Orr, Anthony Cristiano, and freshmen Douglas DaPalma, Landon Kefford, Logan James and Miguel Marticorena-Carvo.

The men’s cross country team has their last meet on Thursday, Oct. 11. This city championship meet will wrap up the season for the team.
