[Brief] Broward County Public Schools close Wednesday, Nov. 8 for tropical storm Nicole

Kate Becker, Senior News Editor

After tropical storm warnings were issued for the east coast of Florida for the fast approaching Tropical Storm Nicole, Broward County Public Schools, among other counties, have decided to close school for Wednesday, Nov. 9.

School closure for Thursday, Nov. 10 has not been addressed yet and Friday, Nov. 11 is already closed for Veterans Day.

School closure is mostly determined by students ability to be transported to school. School buses are the main determinant; if bus drivers are not allowed to transport students to school, counties don’t want students attempting to drive, walk, etc themselves.

The storm has been a threat since the beginning of the week, and the consideration for closure of schools has followed but was not confirmed until around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 8.

Other counties in the warning zone of the tropical storm can be assumed to close as well.

The Eagle Eye will provide updates on the storm and possible school closure for the rest of the week.
