The new frozen custard establishment, Whit’s, offers a variety of original flavors. Costing $6.88, the Buckeye Madness is a mix of custard, creamy peanut butter and sugary chocolate syrup, and has proven to be a fan favorite flavor.

[Review] Whit’s Frozen Custard serves delicious custard at new Coral Springs location

Whit’s Frozen Custard is a chain custard shop with over 50 locations in the U.S., that serves a variety of items, including different flavors of custard that change weekly, as well as Whitsers, Whitties, milkshakes, chocolate covered bananas, sundaes and more. The 20th location in Florida of Whit’s Frozen Custard opened March 9 in Coral Springs on University Drive.

The custard served at Whit’s has a unique taste in comparison to regular ice cream, outdoing it in every respect. Generally, custard has a smoother texture than regular ice cream due to it having more milk added to the mixture. It is also known to be healthier than regular ice cream, containing fewer calories, yet more protein and calcium.

What makes Whit’s stick out from other custard shops is the endless amount of customizable menu items they offer. One way people can customize an item is by ordering a Whitser. A Whitser consists of custard and the toppings of a customer’s choosing that are scooped into a cup and mixed together in a blender. However, one can also order a pre-customized Whitser from the menu.

The Whitser I enjoyed most was the one Whit’s happens to be known for across all of its locations, the Buckeye Madness. This is composed of three scoops of vanilla custard, Reese’s cups, peanut butter and hot fudge, blended together to create a delectable treat with a sweet and salty taste. The balance of each was perfect and the toppings being mixed in really made a difference in the overall taste of the Whitser, while lending it a better texture.

The service at Whit’s was excellent, and when entering I was immediately greeted by employees ready to serve me. They were generous with their portions and offered to give out samples to every customer who came in. The employees even took the time to explain to customers their daily and weekly flavors, making sure to specify exactly what was in each. The custard shop has so much to choose from that going might as well come with the guarantee that there is something on the menu for everyone.

Another item on the menu that I tried was one of their famous Whitties–a type of ice cream sandwich, but even better. The Whitties are composed of custard that is sandwiched in between two cookies of one’s choosing. Whitties can be ordered with different custard flavors that are also served in cups or cones.

My favorite Whittie was the black raspberry chip one–a raspberry custard with chocolate flakes inside that is surrounded by two chocolate cookies. This Whittie is perfect for any chocolate lover and the fruity addition of raspberry only made it taste even better, providing the perfect contrast.

The atmosphere and sweet treats at Whit’s made eating there entirely worthwhile. Their custard is so different from regular ice cream that it provides a completely unique taste that is hard to come by anywhere else.

The prices were reasonable for the large portions they served, and their astounding menu made it hard to choose what to try; everything from their chocolate covered bananas to their milkshakes sounded and looked equally as good. Whit’s is definitely the place to go if one is looking to try something new, that is still guaranteed to be great.
