On Jan. 14, Starbucks and MrBeast collaborated to create the Cannon Ball Drink. The drink is a sweet and tart lemonade mixed with Starbucks’ classic Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher, topped with frozen dried fruit inclusions like strawberries and dragon fruit. This drink is inspired by the Cannon Ball Challenge from season two of the MrBeast game show, “Beast Games.”
James Stephen Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is a popular content creator on Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, Facebook, X — formerly known as Twitter — and Prime Video.
The Cannon Ball Challenge was a competition in which players had to run or move across an area while large foam or rubber balls (called cannonballs) were launched at them. Contestants had to avoid getting hit by the cannonballs, and if they were hit or fell they were eliminated.
MrBeast launched this new drink to promote his show “Beast Games,” which was inspired by the Netflix show, Squid Games. “Beast Games” is a game show on which contestants compete in a variety of tasks to win a large amount of money. In season two of the show, contestants were able to win up to $5 million.
The ombre look of the refreshers gives them an air of 2016 nostalgia, leading many customers to try the drink. The Cannon Ball Drink is a fun and creative vibrantly colored drink that tastes sweet and fruity. It has just the right amount of each refresher to make sure it does not taste too much like either the Açaí or Dragon Fruit Refresher.
The drink is very refreshing and addictive, simultaneously sweet and tart in a way that is not overpowerful at all. However, it feels more summer-themed than winter-themed, leading the collaboration release to feel poorly timed.
Along with the Cannon Ball Drink, MrBeast also owns a snack brand called Feastables. Among Feastables products are chocolate bars, which come in a variety of flavors including Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch (Deez Nuts), Milk Chocolate, Original Chocolate and Sea Salt Chocolate. He also makes plant-based and gluten free bars.
Feastables’ chocolate bars can even contain a golden ticket. If someone receives a ticket, they win a high value prize. MrBeast also owns a burger restaurant called MrBeast Burger, which is available for pickup and take out.
The Cannon Ball Drink will be available until Feb. 25. The drink can only be found in U.S. Starbucks locations. It is also a barista-created drink, meaning its availability may vary based on location.
The drink is a good representation of Beast Games and a great addition to the many MrBeast products already for sale.
